Pick the country your customers are in
The number that gets the call is the one that looks local to the person dialling. How to choose the country, what changes from one store to the next, and what stays the same.
If your customers are in one country and you're in another — or you sell in three — the number on your website decides whether they ring. People dial numbers that look local. A number from somewhere else looks like an international call, and many won't make one from a work phone for a quote. So start from the customer, not from where you sit: pick the country they're in.
That's how the site is arranged. Each country has its own store: one all-in plan at one monthly price in that country's money, nothing added at checkout, every feature included. The price is set by the country — what a number costs, and what it costs to forward a call to a mobile there, differ a lot from place to place — and it's on the store before you pick a number, so there's no converting and no surprise at checkout.
What changes from one store to the next is the paperwork. Some countries want nothing; most want photo ID and let your address be anywhere; a few require an address in the country. The store shows which before you choose, and it decides when the number goes live. In every country open today your number goes live once your details are checked — usually within a working day, and we email you the moment it does.
What stays the same is everything else. The number rings the mobile already in your pocket — each store says before you pick a number which mobiles it can ring. Voicemail lands in your email and a transcript follows in a second one, a heads-up tells you it's a business call, working hours stop calls when you stop, and there's a free trial and no contract in every store.
Who this is for: the dive centre whose bookings come from Germany; the concierge whose clients are Irish expats; the developer working for an agency in another country; the family abroad whose parents won't dial international. A local number for the people who ring you, ringing the phone you already have. Pick their country and the store does the rest.
