Is the free trial really free?

The plan is, yes. You pay nothing for the plan for 7 days, and if you cancel before the trial ends you pay nothing at all. The one thing that can be charged is forwarded minutes past the 300 included, at 5p a minute — the same rate as any other month — and they appear on your first bill. 300 minutes is about 43 minutes of answered calls every day of the trial.
