Keep your number when you cancel your landline
Cancelling the line doesn't have to mean losing the number. Here's how transfers work.
£9.99 a monthUp to 300 minutes a month to a UK mobile included, then 5p a minute.
Your landline number belongs to you, not to your provider, and you have the right to move it. The process is called porting: your new provider asks your old one to release the number, and on the agreed day calls start arriving through the new service instead. Your old line keeps working right up to that day.
To transfer a number you'll need to prove you're the account holder — usually photo ID, proof of address and a recent bill for the number. Transfers of a single landline number typically take two to four weeks. Don't cancel the old service before the transfer completes, or the number can be lost.
Landline for Mobile transfers numbers in for free. You sign up, get a temporary number as soon as your details are checked, and when the transfer completes your old number replaces it. Everything else — the mobile it rings, your greetings, your hours — stays exactly as you set it.
